Skin problems?

When configuring skins it seems that even if you delete the Site Name, Site Description, and Tag Line that they always show back up even though it appears from the results page that they are set to ''.

If these are required shouldn't it say so? If not required it shouldn't seem to be deleted only to show up again.

Is this a bug or a feature?
Thanks,

Is there anything special needed for incoming RSS feeds to work?

I'm using the latest version of YACS.
To test I went into the Server portion of the control panel.
I've set for YACS feeds to automatically show up in one of my categories.

Yet it never does. Nor, when I click on Test, does anything show up. It just shows a series of messages saying Empty message.

Ideas?
Thanks,

Bernard,

I've asked several questions that may seem odd. Hopefully this post will clear up any misconceptions and I'll be able to see whether YACS can work for me.

Let's say that I own BigCompany.com with offices in Toledo, Miami, Paris, London, and LA.

Let's say that I want to set up a public intranet of sorts for my employees that is read only - they can't edit the content. What I mean by public is that it will be out on the web but access will be controlled by passwords and logins.

Further let's ... more»

Hi Bernard,

First off I'm impressed and thankful that you took some of my suggestions for the last update. I'm installing it today to try out the new features. Thanks!

1. Should there be any problems in multiple installs of YACS on subdomains? Like health.mydomain.com, money.mydomain.com, etc?
I'm mainly concerned about cookies and any thing else that may cause problems.

2. I've seen your writeup on the differences between sections and categories. In real life, though, what is the best practices on when to choose which?
What I want to do is have ... more»

at least from what I've seen.

What I'm looking for is a way that a person could be in 'charge' of a particular topic/category and be able to post, moderate, delete, etc. only in that topic/category and not in others.

Kind of like a limited editor.

Likewise other 'editors' could only post and manage in their topic/category and not others they aren't assigned to.

Maybe I'm missing it but I don't see this as a feature right now.

Not complaining though.

Geeklog, which I've used extensively, has a complicated but very rich security system ... more»

Hi, thanks for all your hard work and for this great software.

I just lost my long set of questions so this one will be much more brief:

1. Is there a way to take away the little icons that are beside links? Look at the Forum link above and it has a little icon.

2. Is there a way to control that members can NOT post any new articles?

3. You told me previously about the code and that was just what I needed. However how do you then show a login page or put ... more»

I've been reading and playing and trying to figure some of these things out but am still unclear about some of them. If I've overlooked something obvious that is explained elsewhere I apologize.'

Here we go, a mini-FAQ for Mark, and for all of you who are new to YACS
