Textmate gets good reviews as a programmers texteditor: http://macromates.com/

Also, do not forget Eclipse, which has a great php functionality http://developer.apple.com/tools/eclipse.html and http://www.eclipse.org/pdt/ auto-complete works well with YACS (thanks to the use of phpdoc), syntax checking is great and then there's the debugging and uniting testing (simpletest) integration. Only thing is lacks is good html editing and profiling support (the paid for Zend version has more features).

This is something I am currently investigating compared to using separate suite of tools.
