Timster: check the lastly build (actually, shared/surfer.php).

If you configure your site to prohibit self registration by new users, the user menu ('Register', etc.) will disappear from all pages. You should either bookmark the login page, or add a 'login' link at the bottom of your template to let you authenticate again to your server.

Of course the user menu appears again on successful login.

Thank you for your suggestion, which seems to be appealing for some other users of YACS as well.
