I had a similar test some time ago with FCKEditor, but reverted to the bare textarea mode because of some conflicts with direct inclusion of HTML tags. At the end of the day, TinyMCE is very pleasant to use. The full-screen mode, in particular, helps a lot on long or complex articles.
