How can I create links using News feeds

Cordeiro, Derek -- on Mar. 16 2006
News Feed does a good job at parsing news feeds. How can I make use of this functionality to get updated links of articles from a remote site to be displayed in a side box or gadget box. I dont want whole news reader like functionality, just list of 7 newest articles say from slashdot XML news feed

Read How to aggregate a feed? about this feature. YACS may display news in a gadget box, in an extra box, etc.

I have tried it at slg.goa-india.org The feeds section(Feeds is for aggregating news feeds. I can see related servers in the right side, and the test Feed Test shows abt 15 articles. Why doesnt Feeds section show any?

What am I doing wrong?

Derek: Your settings seems to be ok so far.

In the main configuration panel, have you changed settings related to background processing?

Also, what are parameters set in the configuration panel for feeds?

To find it, visit the Control Panel, then, in the main panel, click on the link related to feeds.

YACS may wait for about one hour before feeding a site, and this depends of people visiting pages.

Bernard: Try http://slg.goa-india.org/ with username "tester" and password "tester" and please tell me what I am doing wrong!

Background processing is handled by yacs, no cronjob has been set up on server

Derek: really, your configuration seems to be fine. I have backed up content of your database to my workstation to perform additional local tests. Keep posted...
