Restrict Collections?

Mangal, Avnish -- on Feb. 17 2006
I was just wondering if it is possible to restrict collections.
Hey everyone, I'm new to YACS but so far the installation has been beautiful. As always, one question usually comes up:

Is there any way to restrict a collections page?

I have some personal movies and pictures and I do not want people who are not logged in to be able to see them.

Please post back soon.

One option is to attach files to articles in sections, and to use related permission system, as explained in Security Considerations.

For you, this implies a little overhead compared to the simple upload in collections, but this is the price to pay for security management anyway.

To circumvent PHP upload limitations, you can use the referencing facility for files attachments. Upload files as usual with FTP to some web space.

Then, within YACS, create a file entry and mention the full URL and size of the target file.

YACS will stream these exactly like in collections, where appropriate.
