What does the "Family" box in the create section dialog do

Bernard, how can I use the "family" option in the create a new section dialog. I.e. what is it used for?

Also what code, templatees, css etc, do I change to remove the "bookmarklet" and "news feeder" boxes as these will not apply to my site at all and I don't need them to appear anywhere at this time

Dan: Initially the Familly field has been introduced to structure forums, with several sections under the same family. For other layouts, this is a label inserted in the page just before the main title.

The bookmarklet command appears only to members. Also, you can suppress the RSS link from the home page by deleteing the related article in the special section for extra boxes. Lastly, the Configuration Panel for Skins has a couple of options to show/hide such tools.

Generally speaking, to limit interactions with your site you should first of all ensure that nobody except a couple of persons can become members.

The most straightforward way to do that is to disallow self-registration from the main Configuration panel for System Parameters. In this situation YACS will remove most goodies from everywhere, except for you.
