Play all music of this folder doesn't seem to work

avatarMorison, Rodney -- on Dec. 24 2005
(I'm not clear on where to report problems, hope this is the right place)
Unless I'm missing something, the Play all music of this folder option in a collection doesn't seem to play, at least not in WinAmp. The individual items do seem to play correctly.

For example, the collection at

http://dev.marklewisworks.com/collections/browse.php?path=Media%2FKidsAnimalsFood-clips

plays the individual clips, but the Play all link seems to give the same url as the collection folder page itself, which is probably not correct:

http://dev.marklewisworks.com/collections/browse.php?path=Media%2FKidsAnimalsFood-clips

When i click on your links, everything goes fine. I can ear either individual audio files, or play all music of the folder.

For your information, I am using VLC player.

The only visible bug is that files are not properly ordered in the playlist.

I should probably in a next version sort files by titles before generating the list.

Speaking of sorting files for playback, another streamer I use (edna) gives a "Shuffle all songs" as well as a "Play All" option. Both play all and shuffle all work hierarchically.

Most desktop players can shuffle as well, but that requires more clicks than to have the server take care of ordering.

Rod: Thank you for the suggestion. Definitely to be added to the next YACS release. Also, edna is an interesting pointer. By browsing the code i have discovered a new not-HTTP-related header named 'icy-name', and Google has plenty to say about that.

Actually your issue is coming from a bug in the generation of links in the .m3u file.

An updated release 5.12.1 has been uploaded today, which should fix this issue, among others.

Can you check YACS version 8.6beta30.31.31 (zip) and provide (supposedly positive) feed-back?

I wish you a very Happy 2006 Year with YACS.

Rod: In the new release I have integrated the getid3 library to further document Winamp on streamed files. Maybe you would be interested to give it a try? Check the download page.
