Upgrade from 7.1 to current (8.3)?

Jael -- on Nov. 16 2008
I am wondering about upgrading from our very stable and usable 7.1 install to the most recent stable release (8.3).

Some of the new features would be very nice to have on the site, but I don't have time to recreate the site. Does this upgrade require a lot of tweaking or is it a pretty "straightforward" upgrade? With some of the new options (AJAX for one), I can see some recreation becoming necessary.

The upgrade question is one that I have not raised with the rest of my team, since many of them have the perspective of "it's not broken, leave it alone". It's hard to argue with that when we don't need the new features and I don't have the time or experience to take care of any resulting problems on my own.

Thanks, Jael

First sorry for my bad english

It's not possible to migrate directly from 7.1. You must install 7.6. So I suggest to duplicate your website and test the migration on the copy.

It could be possible that you must change a little your skin. So before migrate, keep an original skin

Be careful. They are change between 7.3 version. In french : Versions avant la 7.3 : manipulation particulière

And for recent version : Spécial mise à jour vers YACS 8.6 - Macnana

Good luck
