Editing the user menu
Finding the correct file
Bernard,
As per instructions on this site I was able to find the find my sites main menu at Home>Sections>Menus and modify it accordingly, but the user menu is not located under menus? Where do I find it to modify it?
Thanks,
Tim

Warning: this is a reference file of the system, that can be changed by any future release. If you would like to shape the user menu differently, we could either change YACS for everybody, or find a way to let you have your own private function. |

Bernard: I suppose it would be ideal for everyone if there was a page in the admin where you could select which of the links you wanted and form fields for naming them. I personally for my site don't want my visitors to be able to see who the other users are, to have any help or access to any kind of control panel (nasty aren't I?) In fact except for the authors of my site, I'm not sure if I will need a users area at all?? I have no real benefit to offer them to register and I'm not much of a fan for registering on sites myself. I'll have to give this some more thought. Also trying to create a new editor for my site today produced this error: INSERT INTO `xxxxxxx`.`yacs_users` SET email='bo... |

Regarding the SQL error, please upgrade the database schema: go to the Control Panel and click on the Setup link. Then click on the large button to actually update the database and voila! This issue is common after manual updates. This is why I have added a page in The Manual to describe the correct way of upgrading your server. |

If you configure your site to prohibit self registration by new users, the user menu ('Register', etc.) will disappear from all pages. You should either bookmark the login page, or add a 'login' link at the bottom of your template to let you authenticate again to your server. Of course the user menu appears again on successful login. Thank you for your suggestion, which seems to be appealing for some other users of YACS as well. |
