Former CMS developer jumps ship...film at 11!
Seriously, I've spent the last 3+ years working on my own CMS (COWe). Eventually had someone helping with the project (only to find they trashed it!). I recently decided to pull the plug on my CMS and concentrate on the modules, which were the heart of the project anyway. The catch was that the modules (aka: overlays, extensions, gadgets, widgets, etc.) needed a host CMS to run on. Being a former developer of various *Nuke projects I looked at the various Nuke CMS again...and quickly remembered why I left them! I tried several others; Drake, Mambo, Joomla, Drupal, etc. While those where all good in their own way, something was missing for me. Then, I stumbled upon YACS!

I decided to use the modules from my own CMS to possibly help extend YACS. However, YACS doesn't have modules like other CMS, so I will need to learn the system first. YACS pretty much already has most of the modules I need built in. But, I do plan to work on bringing my projects management mod to YACS...somehow. Again, I need to learn the system. I also want to work on SKINS and maybe some English documentation (I have done some technical writing in the past for various companies.).

I basically would like to devote the time I was spending on my CMS project to YACS. So if there are any areas that need work/help, maybe I could pitch in.

Welcome to the YACS world (well, at least, platform). I sincerely hope you will find in the reference code valuable material to taylor to your needs and ideas.

An extension of yacs to plan projects would be great actually...

Even if this is not obvious, YACS has many extension mechanisms, including several PHP interfaces to extend. You may look at skins as a starting point, then move to overlays, layouts and to hooks. All these are kind of "specialized plugins" with a compact interface which make them easy to produce and to manage.

What do you want to start with?

Hey, thanks for the welcome! I am still learning the various bits of YACS. And the more I learn, the more I like

Where to begin? I will probably work on a skin or two first. Then as I am more comfortable with YACS I will dive into the projects management bits. Some English docs (with screenshots and all) would be nice. Maybe I can look into that one.
