Using poll entries as blogs
include full text of 'Additional information'
From the attached pics you can see that I'm attempting to make blog entries that include:
A picture of an item (i-Pod as sample) A poll question about the item
But I'm also wanting to include a text description of the devices.
So I've been creating polls as my entries, with images attached and the 'Additional Information' form field as the text descriptions.
However on the poll pages it shows the poll and picture but not the additional information unless you actually vote. I need people to see that info before they vote... you can see a horrific mock-up of what I'm tring to do here:

Even worse for my situation is that on the home page the new polls I've created only show the poll title and picture... and yet again I want the poll, picture and description all to show. See above mock up.
How do I change this so it consistently shows everything on the home page and then again in the polls pages?

| Timster 100 posts | Actually I figured it out. For those remotely interested you simply click: controlpanel>skins (under configuration panels)> and then select the radio dial option: daily - For weblogs and blogmarks. Preview Now it works. |

Timster: Obviously you are able to answer yourself the question you are asking. I love this To move forward on this topic: YACS currently has a sample of different layouts for the home page, like daily, alistapart, boxandarrows, etc. The objective is to cover various needs, of course. In your situation, you can use either the alistapart or the daily (aka, regular blog) layout. With the daily layout, a bunch of text is displayed for each poll at the home page. But the size is limited and some of your surfer could have to click on the permalink to browse the entire entry. With the alistapart, the full last entry is displayed at the home page. This matches your requirements, but only if you are not posting too many pages on each day. My two cents: if you have one post per day, go with alistapart. If you have several posts per day, go with the daily layout. Of course, you could develop your own layout, based on the existing ones, and integrate it into YACS. Thank you for your interest into YACS. |
| Timster 100 posts | Bernard, now we are moving into an area that I can't answer myself What if I want the results of the poll to show on the same page (in the red area outlined in the attached pic for example)? Is there a way to paste some of the output code from the poll.php or vote.php so it will show this here? Sorry I don't know anything about .PHP. You can view what I'm trying to do here: Label |
| Bernard from nearby-an-airport Associate, 6696 posts | Timster: We could modify the polling code to also display results if a specific option is added to the page. For example:
Would this solve your issue? If yes, I would rework the overlays/poll.php for the next release. |

Bernard: This would be ideal... how often do you make a new release? Timster |
| Bernard from nearby-an-airport Associate, 6696 posts | Timster: Can you please either update your server, or load the nightly build from the index page for scripts? Then create a poll as usual, and add the keyword 'poll_with_results' to visualize poll results even at the home page. By the way, your name appears in the list of (famous) YACS testers. Thank you for your bright idea. |

Timster: It works, as shown at http://www.yetanothercommunitysystem.com/yacs_demo/index.php and as reported below |

Bernard: Now that's what I call service! Great stuff, now I'm going to rebuild Yacs in my root domain and begin to build my site. Thanks so much. Tim |
