How can I make a YACS page the home page?
Sent by Tim Trimmer:
I tried installing YACS per the directions and it works fine... except that someone who types in just, say, 'timsblog.com' goes nowhere. Can YACS be installed in the root directory or is there a trick I've missed?
I've looked all over and can't find the information I'm looking for.

You can put everything at the root level (at / instead at /yacs/) and this is the recommended solution if you are intended to use YACS as your unique content management system now and forever...
>or is there a trick I've missed? Yes. If you install YACS under /yacs/, you can duplicate the main file /yacs/index.php at / as well. In this case YACS will manage your home page, even if files stay neatly organized below one single directory. The only trick is to enable the future update of this index page. In the configuration panel for skins, click on the checkbox to signal the duplication of the index page. If a new /yacs/index.php file is released it will be copied at both levels (/ and /yacs).Hope these directions are clear enough. Do not hesitate for more if necessary. |
