Hiding profile fields
I would very much like to require real names during signup
but since i can't hide them from the public, i feel uncomfortable doing so. (and even if i could, as far as i can tell there is no way to make names mandatory upon applying to the site.)

Well, ideally, i'd like members to be able to hide information such as phone numbers, and name (since "nick name" seems to be the name used all over the site. I'll go through and look more carefully at the information and give a specific list. but the main point i had here was that when members join up, i can't make 'first and last name' mandatory, and then require that they display them to the world That's not really fair. But for purposes of administration knowing who is whom would be nice. However, since i can't hide that from people, i won't demand members to give that info. I suspect that part of the issue is that the way we're using the software is slightly different than it's typical usage. Our members are not 'trusted' as much as most sites using this software. |
