Problem Installing 7.6
Tried to update, update failed and broke my install.
I am trying to install 7.6.. Previous install was 6.2. I get the following message when I try to run setup.php.
Fatal error: Undefined class name 'smileys' in /hsphere/local/home/rancov/myhomespace.biz/yacs/codes/codes.php on line 296
Can you help?

| Rancov 9 posts | This error message is what I get when I start setup.php on version 7.6 |

Simplify3![]() 48 posts | YACS 7.6.3 - Blank main page for anonymous surfer! Look at: http://free.naplesplus.us I suddenly cannot see the main page of my website! I suspect it's been going on for a while, but since I had myself automatically login with the cookie all of the time, I haven't seen it. I don't know how long it's been going on. Other pages can sometimes be visable as anonymous surfer but not always, but never the main page. When I login (which I have do the tricky way, but loading up Google's cached page of my site), everything works perfectly. I tried changing skins around but no change. The most information I had gotten was No Content from one of the online web checkers - most other browsers show either a blank page, or Lynx says "Cannot access startfile!" Please help! I had no idea my site wasn't working until I logged out and couldn't get back on. Thanks! I suspect people haven't been able to see the page for a while now but I didn't realize it. When you can help me, I'd *really* appreciate it. Thanks!! Ken http://free.naplesplus.us/ |

Simplify3: Oh, if you want to see the 7.6.3 index page that WON'T work (unless you have a cookie already installed on your computer) is at: http://free.naplesplus.us/regindex.php If you can see that page, then you have a cookie from my site on your computer. Delete that cookie and try again. You will find that the page will not display, even though the rest of the site does. Please help Bernard!!! |

Simplify3 : I cannot get the page, i get the download window for the empty regindex.php file. |

GnapZ: That's the thing. The file is there ( http://free.naplesplus.us/regindex.php ) - it's just a copy of the regular index.php file -- and now - try this if you have a minute: 1) Go to: http://free.naplesplus.us 2) Register 3) Once you've registered, THEN try going to http://free.naplesplus.us/regindex.php It will show up. It's a cookie issue of some kind - I THINK it has to do with the new permanent cookie deletion routine (the screened=deleted cookie) -- but I'm not 100% sure. Or perhaps that someone WITHOUT a cookie cannot see the front page. I don't know if anybody else is having this problem - I had this problem for TWO or THREE WEEKS before I realized it - it started after upgrading to 7.6.3 Otherwise, I've had no other problems and love the new features. I REALLY hope you can help me with this. I want anonymous users to be able to see the main page again and not that dummy page I set up for now. Thanks a million! Ken http://free.naplesplus.us/ |
| Rancov 9 posts | I had the same problem for a time. I did a manual install , but it did not generate a password for me and I cannot login. The homepage is once again displaying, but I will have to do another re-install to get the login and user name to take. I had the install problem also with 6.2. It is apparently a cookie issue and may have something to do with the path to the index file, mine is not in the root. I have set the browser (FF 2.0.1) to allow cookies from the site, but it still did not take. |

Simplify3 : I registered and try. I have the same issue while testing regindex then index. But if i try another skin then disconnect and go to the index, everything works. The problem exist only after trying to get the regindex page. Look at the rights or maybe this filename is not allowed on your host service. I don't know. I confirm that removiing the cookie in the browser works but it looks to be beacause of the regindex file. Everything is fine if you don't access this file. |

GnapZ: Yes yes - the regindex file is the real index file - the one that comes with YACS. I renamed index.php to regindex.php. Then I created a dummy index.php, the one you see now when you go to my site. http://free.naplesplus.us In other words: INDEX.PHP=I made it using hello.php as a template. REGINDEX.PHP was created by Bernard - it was called "INDEX.PHP" but since it isn't working for non-cookie people, I had to move rename index to regindex so that everybody could get on my website. What I WANT to be able to do, is get rid of the current INDEX.PHP and bring back the original INDEX.PHP. Can you help me there? |

Simplify3 : I would like to help but i cannot reproduce this so i don't know what to search. Maybe Bernard will helps. |
| Bernard from nearby-an-airport Associate, 6997 posts | I have purged all cookies from within the browser, then have surfed your site without any problem. Actually YACS does not rely so much on cookies. The main one is the PHPSESSID which is managed directly by the PHP run-time. The other cookie you mentioned is only used to avoid logins, no more. The white screen syndroma you are experiencing cannot be related to cookies, in my opinion. Usually this is coming from some internal error on server side due to an ilegal call or similar. Have you asked your ISP to show you the Apache error log? |
