Did you make the database before launching the setup ? It is required.

Ohterwise, you have to give the user and password to access this database in the first fields (do not fill the database fields for seperate users database).

Hello - thanks for the tips, but no impact. The database pre-exists The database and password are established (I used them on a prior cms and have today installed Website Baker OK to evaluate using the same data, but perhaps there was a typo - i"ll recheck.

Check if the host use "localhost" to access the database or an url as "sql.hosting.com".

If the database allready exist, check the prefix of the tables. This should not make an error because if the prefix of the tables is not the same, Yacs would create new ones.

If you have an access to the database with a Php tool as PhpMyAdmin and if this access work manualy, use the same url, username and password for the settings of yacs.

Does the host service of PHP runs in safe_mode ? We allready had some troubles with this but it is fixed in the 7.4 (and before).

Can you make us a copy of the differents messages of Yacs ?

Gnapz, thanks for the tips.
  • The host uses "localhost
  • the database allready existed, I gave it a new prefix for yaks.
  • I used the same url, username and password for the settings of yacs. AND It installed FINE - my confusion was the second entry field - I thought this was 'user' for administrating YAKS, instaed I put my user for my FTP to site and it worked.
  • the host service of PHP IS NOT in safe_mode

Once in I was, frankly, stunned by the excellent setup interface that GOES Further than any other CMS install and leads one to a good startpoint for a site.

HOWEVER, I do have some problems with blank screens coming up - I will post those issues under the thread for bugs & discrepancies.

all the best Zaph

Zaphmann: For blank screens, and if you are running Windows, try to augment the maximum memory given to PHP in PHP.INI, for example by moving from 8M to 16M. Many thanks for the positive feed-back.
