Yacs 7.4 PT_BR

Portuguese Brazilian
I am making the translation of YACS 7.4 to Portuguese Brazilian.

This is just an announcement to avoid another person starting the same translation.

If there is someone that want to help with this project, contact me.

I think this translation will be finished in 2 or 3 weeks.

William.

GnapZ, I am using YACS for a personal free project, YACS is the only system that has the features that I need.

I would like to be the official mantainer for the PT_BR YACS translations. Maybe you guys could create a page listing the official translators, with contact information, this way it will be easier to other peopleo to join the translation projects. (A Wiki in the "Languages" section would be great) I would be able to mantain a translation status list of the files, among other things, The Wiki would be the place for all the translator and for the translation projects.

I have a few things that I think would help improve YACS. I will post them in a better place other day.

Anyway, with the Portuguese Brazilian translation YACS will have more chances to be used in Brazil and Portugal, and that will be a good thing to YACS.

Thanks, William

GnapZ:

Thank you for moving to a new topic.

Can I use the Translator handbook to post a page for PT_BR informations, like a table of terms translations among other things?

Thanks, William.

Sesshoumaru :

You can work in this article. When you will have finished, just attach the archive here and we will add it to the Language packs section.

If you want to speak about translations, go to Localization support board section.

We will see for a wiki but anyway, never give your contact information. If someone wants to contact you, he can look at your profile address. If you want to tell another address for this job, just fill it in your profile description as "PT_BR Translators address" for example.

Let's see what other members think about this (translators, associates and any member else).

Sesshoumaru :

Yes of course if it is not specific to your language (this section is a large help about translations). It will help other translators and contributors.

If you want to post specific PT_BR information, please prefer the Localization support board and create a "Portuguese Brazilian" topic.

Maybe this last section could be replaced by a wiki.

GnapZ:

I think that having a list of all the translators of each project would be better than creating another user class. This other user type (Translators) would not be significant IMHO.

It is good to have a list of the translator when someone want to join the team, because you know who to contact.

The wiki is much better for this things than a forum, the forum is great for discussions, but not for store utilities, like a table of translated terms, like wich person is translating one file or other.

When translating from English to Portuguese, you find a lot of words that have more than one translation, (Delelte can be "Remover" or "Eliminar") or other that two English words have only one translation (File and Archive can only be translated as "Arquivo"). If you don't make a list, you will have a translation where sometimes you see "remover" and others "Eliminar" for the same delete function. Other great utility for the wiki is to list the stats of the translations, what is finished, what is not initiated, etc.

If I am not posting this things here, I will be saving them on my computer, it is better to have it here to everybody, than on my computer, where it can be lost in case something happens to my computer or me.

Thanks, William.

Sesshoumaru : I understand what you mean but we need to know what the others think. I cannot change things without the Yacs Team and the other translators.

I think that you have good ideas and it could be done soon.

About your website (the link in your profile), please can you tell me whitch company is hosting it (it is to complete his file on Yacs Info).

GnapZ:

I was explaining my ideas, I don't want to force anything, sorry.

My website is hosted in www.dreamhost.com. Everything worked fine, installation, the automatic update feature works smootly too. I just can't say if this server can host sites with high traffic, some people say it can't.

Sesshoumaru : a section in wiki mode for the work of translator will be open soon in the localization factory. We are thinking about the best way to make this.

Goog idea, and welcome to the translation factory !

I think thas the page for Portuguese Brazilian must accept texts in PT-BR for helping the translator team. Would you coordinate this translation ? If yes, we add a mention near your name in the front of the page.

See you soon

Agnès:

Yes, I want to be the coordinator of PT_BR translation. I want my YACS site to be always updated, and always in Portuguese Brazilian, so I will be updating the translation of the next versions of YACS too. When I finish the translation of this version, the following versions will be much easier to translate, because I will only have to translate the new and changed strings.

The page for the PT_BR translation team can be used to talk in english or in Portuguese, no problem here.

Thanks, William.

I have added a sticky page at the beginning of this discussion board to list all assigned translators. Welcome on board...

I will be updating a translation status list for each file in the first message of this topic.

PS. I changed my Nickname to my name, I prefer it this way.

William.

William Koch : Hello, the wiki is OK. You can list all you need in this space : pt_br - Brazilian Portuguese.

that will be able to evolve/move if necessary.

Agnès:

The PT_BR wiki page can be all in portuguese, or you prefer it in English?

Note: I am attaching a temporary archive with all the files I am translating, just as a temporary backup copy, when I finish the translation I will remove this file.

William Koch :But yes, it is definitely derived from Boxandarrows, and I can promise to you that most of the job was mad by deriving the CSS only.

" Agnès:

William: the wiki must be used to facilitate the work of the translators, the important one is thus to be comprehensible.
In Portuguese: the people of Portuguese language will understand.
In English: he will be accessible to others, which is also very important.
I think that Portuguese asserts itself, with reformulations, sometimes, in English, so that everyone can follow.
To note: if all is in Portuguese, I am not ready to be able to discuss with you
