Translate the section's title?
Hi, i'm tranlsating the articles.po in italian.
I'm on the string number 300 with the text
Now the problem is i've to translate in something like
So my questions is:
would actually the creation of the section "extra boxes" be influenced by the language? "extra boxes" named "riquadri aggiuntivi" in italian for example and with the nickname translated too.
As to get an optimal translation it would be a good thing to have a site map with the section named "riquadri aggiuntivi" as in any other string found in the server and not "extra boxes".
In conclusion this would be good (but may be dangerous as you need to be very consistent on the translation) to obtain a traduction like:
Probably it's not really essential to translate the nickname and may be better to not. But the title of the section should be, i think, to get a more elegant result.

This is a sample extra box.n
Visit the [link=extra section]sections/view.php?id=extra_boxes[/link] to
review all extra boxes.

Visitate la sezione [link=sezione extra boxes]sections/view.php?id=extra_boxes[/link]

Probably the nickname should remain the english one to avoid errors. As an errors in the traduction could become a non working link on the server. |

If YACS is looking for the section "covers" to get a cover page, and if this section does not exists, or has a different nick name, the feature will be broken. If you think that there is an issue in the way strings are shaped today, maybe we should change that to make nick names not visible to translators. Of course, for all sections created manually, after the installation, you are free to use whatever nick names you need. I am eager to see the very first installation of YACS in Italian. Thank you so much for your involvement in this hard work. |

Bernard: I understand for the nickname as it's used in the link, but may be we can translate just the title of the section? Or it's already transalted in accord with the language choosed? I'm following the evolution of yacs by cvs.So we are translating the last two files added articles and sectionsOur major difficulties are due to the poor know-how about YACS. I'm using it for my little site and so i'm not using most of the features as i don't have the time to explore. But as i like the simplicity of YACS and i like to have tool translated i my "preferred" language i've decided to translate it. In the hope to help in faciliting the adoption of yacs by italian speaking people that could give me a hand or at least a feedback. I really need some feedback and some suggestion to get a more elegant and usefull translation. May be in the next monts someone would get involved, we'll see! |

Fw_crocodile: You are right, section titles are also within the pool of translated strings. You can see them in .pos files. This means that when you will have finish the job, ALL of YACS will really speak Italian, including titles, commands, etc.
