Good looking skin for Open Source project
Hallo,
im working on webportal introducing people from Slovakia to the World of Open Source, Open Content and Open Licenses. This will be non-profit project without any advertising and available only in Slovak language. I think that YACS is the best solution. Im looking for professional skin. My Idea is to share your already made skin with my site. Of course, there will be link to the author in the footer.
Thank you.
| Tof from Grenoble-Chambery 519 posts | Hello oniip, thanks for your interest in yacs. i think that bernard will later answer you about your question, but i'm pleased to be the first yacs community is always happy to share its project with people all around the world; this product is growing and become mature so we wish to share it more and more with the international community. If i have understood your request (i'm not english natural) you ask to use the alfresco skin for your site; i'm quite pretty sure you can, and that the images are either in LGPL either in Creative Common License. Bernard will soon confirm it. And bravo for your webportal project, it's the kind of site we love to hear about. Welcome to Yacs. Christophe Tof |

Tof: Thanx, Alfresco is really nice one, but Im looking for something special, something what isnt included in basic installation... some skin which is using just one (or few) other site, but author allows me to use it. My site will not be only about YACS - my site will be open for all Open Source / Content Initiatives so Im looking for something neutral, not joined to YACS. Big Thanks for great system will be in the footer as a Big link pali |
| Bernard from nearby-an-airport Associate, 6807 posts | Oniip: Your project to create some activities around open source systems is totally aligned with ours, and I do hope that will be able to offer a version of the software localized to your country soon. While YACS gives more freedom than other CMS to any web designer, this is still one of the best kept Internet secret. Our intent is to develop a challenge to motivate talented people to contribute. This is still a project, still, and you may have to work yourself on your skin. Is this an issue to you? Thank you so much for your interest in YACS, and keep posted. We are preparing a couple of things that should interest you, and that will be unveiled in coming weeks. |

" ok, i will probably remake some skin from OpenWebDesign. Is there any tutorial how to make great skin for YACS from XHTML/CSS template? which classes from CSS are important? thanx a lot. If you look at the skins which come with YACS they all have well commented css - I was looking at them recently. As Bernard told me the other day, pick the skin layout that closest matches your desired layout and start tweaking the css for that. Cheers, Nick |
