Bug when section locked?

avatarBoen, Jan -- on Aug. 22 2006
see also my posting on "readers"
When you have the following settings
Visibility restricted to associates, editors and readers
Articles posted here are NOT displayed at the parent section page
Articles posted here are NOT displayed at the front page
Editors: AMS
New posts are not allowed here

with

Locked Yes - Only associates and editors can modify content

Then the user AMS can still create new sub-sections. This looks like a bug.
Creating new pages/polls is effectively forbidden.

Jan, this could be a feature, depending on the definition we have for locking things.

Initially, locking was meant to prevent members to post new things at some sections. Associates always can post pages where they want to add content, with or without locks.

Then we added editors, to empower some members for some sections only. The idea is to provide as much rights as possible to editors, similar to what associates have, but within a reduced scope.

According to this definition, an editor here, AMS should be able to add some content to the section. Setting a lock should not prevent it to do that.

Based on your observation, I would say that the bug is not that AMS can create a sub-section. Instead, the bug is that he cannot post a page in a section he is an editor of.

This is the current setting of feature, but it can be modified based on your requirements, as usual...
