How to correctly configure the "reader" functionality [fixed]

avatarBoen, Jan -- on Aug. 22 2006
Server runs latest version of YACS 6.6.2
I've been able to create readers by downgrading the user to subscriptor level. So that works.

There must be a bug though as a "reader" is unable to access the section to which he/she has been given access rights if the advanced options you have selected "Restricted to associates and editors". It says in the header "Visibility restricted to associates, editors and readers" but the reader doesn't get access.

Can this be fixed easily or better still can you add the option so that members can be given reader rights and editor rights?

Thanks

Jan

Jan, This bug has been flagged a couple of weeks ago, and it will be fixed in the next version of YACS. Subscrivers should be able to access sections they are readers of, of course. Some sites require this to create some publishing sites, with a well-defined and limited set of allowed readers.

Bernard: OK for this. What I really need is that only authenticated users can read certain sections. They should NOT be allowed to access anything else but the sections they are readers of and information that is also visible to any visitor who is not logged in.
If this can be achieved by using subscriptors (strange terminology however I think subscriber is better English ) then that works fine for me.
Any idea when the next release is due?
Once this works a SITA ADS site will migrate to YACS

Cheers

Jan B : The global picture is that, for sections with default settings, members can contribute where subscribers can only read and post comments. For sections with restricted and explicit access rules, these concepts have been extended to editors (aka, members assigned to the section) and readers (aka, subscribers assigned to the section). Next version, which introduces major changes, will be released in first half of September.
