Change the boring Index of/.... page?
I am setting up a private website on my LAN at home to share documents on but would like to change the boring Index of/ Documents page(in my case).
I can get as far as having the differnet folders listed on the home page but when I then click on one of these folders it comes up with the boring white background, sans serif font. I was wondering whether it is possible to have a good looking page with the files not folders listed and when clicked on download them and not open up the boring page! Many Thanks

| GnapZ from Caribbean 2970 posts | Hello, Can you explain a little more with examples because i am not shure to understand what you want to do ? It it about collections ? Did you put some Directory settings in your appache to give the rights on theses files while yacs try to access by the network path (not only the local path) ? |

GnapZ: I have all my music, video and documents all stored on in my servers root. I can access the files but i come up with the page with the header "Index of /Music" the usual (ftp?) page! Hopefully i can get a picture attached but i was wondering if there is any script so i can have a nice formatted page fitting in with the rest of my sites theme? many thanks |

DannyJ : Ok, that's because of the collections. They are not yet beautify to give some functions for this. Another way is to make sections and articles to make it beautifull but at the begining it takes a lot of time. I did the same on my lan and it took me one week to prepare hundreds of movies and albums. But at the end, it is better than collections. Mabye in the next versions we will have more time to make nice collections. |

DannyJ: From what you have descrived, I have the impression that you are just looking at Apache bare index pages. Every page generated by YACS, including collections, is skinned properly. Have you actually configured some YACS collection to your shared directories ? If not, you may want to use the Content Assistant, from the Control Panel, to proceed. Do not hesitate to ask for more help where applicable. |
