Minimal list for a server to run YACS?
Hi,
After reading up for some hours, I think I started to like YACS very much! Is there somewhere on this site a list of minimal things for a server to run YACS as a site? I did read somewhere somthing about PHP5 needed and I like to check if PHP4.4 also workout as a base to go on.
Is there already a dutch translation?
Thanks in advance for the answeres,
Many greetings, Karel.

| GnapZ from Caribbean 2970 posts | Hello and welcome in Yacs world, Yes, Yacs works with PHP4.4 and more, and with MySql 4 and more. The last version (6.5) is optimized for Php5 and MySql5. Yacs use permanent connections with MySql, be sure that your host accept this. If not, ask us for help. All you need is a host with Php, MySql and an FTP account. Make first your database (or use one already existing), then download the last archive download and extract the files in a subfolder of your host (/yacs/ is the default directory automaticaly recognized by Yacs). Call yourdomain.com/yacs/setup.php and follow the instructions. Take a look at the forums but i am sorry, there is only English and French translations at this time. Enjoy. |

GnapZ: Hi, My provider, and neather do I, can't find the place where that connection is made, so they can't say what it does to them. I remember working with phpmyadmin to correct manualy a faulty saved db-backup, that I have seen that by making the new database there was an option to set the connection permanent. Is that the permanent option you mean? Thanks in advance, greetings Karel. |

Puran : If you have an option for this that means that the both are accepted (i think). The better way is to start the installation and call us if you have problems. It works with every host, we know only one (oxito) that does not accept permanent connections. Regards. |
