Uninstallation

Labbé Olivier -- on June 26 2006
Installing was easy...
I Installed the latest version of yacs to test it on my server http://www.xagone.com/yacs/ but since the documentation seams totally inexistant... i want to uninstall...

I Tried! oh! I tried to make a new skins... but it seams we can only use the 4 provided or a derivative of one of them WITHOUT the ability to bring new design! we do not own that directory, so no upload breeze, no easy skinning system here...

Now i wonder why do the install and update change some ownership!?!?

this is overly complicated system management for a standalone CMS... i've worked with 10 cms so far... even built somme little ones in PHP/ASP but this is a first! this cms takes ownership of my own server!

I cannot uninstall unless i call somebody who is at the server to do it manually... you should rethink the word "easy"...

I know you did your best, but do NOT tried to think for everybody, it get's in the way! you are on a great start... but your like the RealPlayer of CMS, always tried to do everything, even things that they can't do, and then tried to hold on it like a virus when we tried to make something out of it, or get rid of it!

Your skinning system need to be rethink from scratch... and docummented! then you'll have a great CMS worth installing...

now I need to call a tech to give me back some ownership...

To uninstall YACS, the process is more simple than for the setup. Use the very same FTP account that you used to push files to the server. Select files on server side and hit the delete command.

If the FTP software complains it is not allowed to proceed, just blame your ISP for the very bad management of his server.

YACS just enforces security policy put in place by the ISP, and it is usual that account information used by FTP and HTTP services just differs. Therefore the issue.

Thank you very much for your interest in YACS. I hope you will find another CMS that will better suit your needs.
