Unable to connect to YACS for updates

avatarBoen, Jan -- on June 8 2006
I can't update sbv54.net from my Siteground hosted server but it works fine for typex.aero that is also hosted by Siteground
Can you check with your hosting provider why I can't get a port 80 connection from sbv54.net

This is my e-mail exchange with Siteground (clipped) 2006-06-08 01:33pm by sbv54 - Nigel,

Try the same from the server that is hosting typex.aero and you will see there is no problem. So there must be a difference between the way the sbv54.net server interacts with the YACS host and the way typex.aero does this.

Both are hosted through Siteground.

Thanks in advance

Jan 2006-06-08 02:07pm by nigel - Hello,

Thank you for the update. I have checked it on the both servers. It works fine on the VPS one, but unfortunately it con not connect on port 80 from the server that hosts the sbv54.net. II have tried to establish connection on port 80 to another place and successfully managed to do so. For some reason our connection to YACS was rejected. Since the server works normally, I would advise you to contact YACS if they could help you with the issue.

Thank you for your understanding.

If you have further questions, you are more than welcome to contact us by opening a ticket.

Hello Jan. Are you talking of similar services for both servers? I mean, your servers could be put on separate equipment, depending for exemple on selected option for contracted service?

Bernard: The service for both YACS instances is different as the service taken is different. TypeX is hosted in a more expensive surround (Virtual Private Server) while sbv54 is hosted on a shared platform. Both servers may even be hosted at different locations but are sold through the same service provider and the tools I have to manage them are identical.

Jan B: Actually I won't recommend you to attempt another on-line update. YACS has become so large that at a number of ISP we have observed a failures of the update script. At the moment the recommended option is to pass through a manual update to the 6.5. I hope other alternatives (upload of a single archive file, and workable on-line update) will be available after 6.6, due this month.
