March-09 - Other significant updates
101 scripts have changed over one week
Overview of new features and bug fixes:
Better avatar support, from image upload (see images/edit.php) to its usage (see below).
The default behaviour for YACS is now to NOT compress page contents. Of course, this can be activated again on-demand, through the main configuration panel.
New configuration parameters have been introduced: security (see control/configure.php), avatars and geographical position (skins/configure.php). Server location is inserted as meta-information at the home page.
Better forum support since comments now display more information about poster: nickname, avatar image, status (associate, member, subscriber), number of posts, registration date. The original layout of YABB has been copied... See comments/layout_comments_as_yabb.php.
Comments can now be moved from one article to another by any associate (see comments/edit.php).
Comments can be quoted with a single click (see comments/edit.php).
First poster and last editor are now distinguished in comments (see comments/comments.php).
Members can now help to categorize articles. However only associates are allowed to suppress article-categories associations.
More control on subscribers, who cannot post articles anymore, nor access restricted pages. This simple achievement had required many changes on SQL requests, among other things.
The script used to send mail messages from articles (aka, articles/mail.php) has been heavily engineered. If the target article has been published, the script will attempt to send a message to any external mailbox. Else the script assumes that you are sending some feed-back to the author. Also some security issues fixed.
New index page for services (see index.php). Not so much information at the moment, but should be expanded soon.
Sample
Most skins have been updated to adjust cosmetic issues. Update cascaded style sheets when you will have one minute or two.
phpDoc documentation has been enhanced in a dozen of scripts. General design guidelines have been moved from index.php to help.php.
